Beamish, The North of England Open Air Museum,

This summer (2001) I went to Beamish, The North of England Open Air Museum. Where you can experience life as it was in the Great North in the early 1800s and 1900s. I have been to Beamish Museum a couple of times before this latest visit, and each time there's been something new to see.

The Museum is set in over 300 acres of beautiful countryside. Here are some of the places you can see if you decide to visit Beamish.

The Colliery Village 1913.
Pit Cottages & gardens.
School.
Methodist Chapel.
Drift Mine.
Steam Winder.
Pithead Buildings.
Engine Shed.
Chauldron Waggons.
Shops with numerous items from bygone days.
A Bank.
A Public House.( you can buy a pint, but the prices are equal to todays prices).
A Dentist.
A Railway Station.
A Park with a Bandstand.

And much, much more. You can't see it all in a couple of hours, give yourself at least a full day if you're going.
